For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (I’ve been really drawn to Ephesians lately)
“This is the world from which Jesus came to redeem us, to give us faith in his Father’s love so that we do not need to assert ourselves and our innocence and our righteousness, so that we can relax and confess the truth about ourselves, so that we can stop judging ourselves and others, because we know that it doesn’t matter: God loves us anyway, so that we are liberated enough to risk … loving and being loved by others, liberated enough to know that we belong to each other because we belong to God.” — Herbert McCabe
I’ve struggled with this in the past… I try to be enough, do enough, look enough, but it’s all for nothing. The truth I need and want to remember is I can relax because God loves me anyway. Through this truth I can love others and let them love me. What freedom!
Truth is beautiful. Yes? I think so. Freedom that is life is what I’m thankful for and I could never have it without Jesus and the grace he gives.
P.S. Sorry if this post seems somewhat disjointed and ill-written, it’s late and I’m tired. I just had to share my thanksgiving for grace with you. 🙂
