Happy Memorial Day everyone! Isn’t it nice there’s a day to reflect on and celebrate those who’ve given their lives to serve our country in fighting for our freedom? Freedom isn’t free, and that’s important to remember so we don’t take ours for granted. What a great sacrifice these people gave us.
Memorial Day also reminds me of the sacrifice Jesus made himself for us. Through his death we are able to have life and freedom in Christ. He paid a debt we never could pay, and he wants us to accept his payment as a free gift. He loved us so much he gave his life. There really is no greater sacrifice than this.
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:16-18, ESV)
Here are some recent pictures from life around the farm this spring.
And a nice fact I learned today: Apparently, if you drink a lot of water and repeatedly rub aloe vera on your skin after seriously burning it you have much less of a chance the skin will peel. How nice, right? This information is sure appreciated by those who feel how I do at the moment. Lately it’s been quite uncomfortable to sleep, wear clothes, and take showers… but obviously those are all necessities. 😦
